Journalism
-- Cultivating Newsmen Who Are Responsible, Caring, and Good at Storytelling
Journalism is a key specialty of Zhejiang Gongshang University Hangzhou College of Commerce. It is also an emerging specialty in Zhejiang Province during the "12th Five-year Plan" period. In addition, it is a pilot unit of journalism school jointly built by the local government and the university on behalf of the Publicity Department of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province. We aim to cultivate application-oriented, interdisciplinary and innovative journalism talents required by the society in the era of media integration, and actively promote the development characterized by “new media + financial news”.
In order to meet the social needs of cultural globalization, we have made great efforts to promote international exchanges. We have set up a Chinese Media Research Center jointly with New York Business Publishing Group, and established cooperative relations with universities or media in the United States, Germany and other countries.
We now have 11 regular teachers in total, including 5 professors and associate professors; one enjoys a special allowance of the State Council and one candidate for the “Thousand Talents Plan” of Zhejiang. At the same time, we also invite external high-level teachers and practical elite tutors. Our goal is to form a teaching staff that is of reasonable age structure and high academic level.
Under the guidance of “application orientation, characteristic development”, we persist in deepening the reform of talent training mode, and strengthening students’ application ability and innovation consciousness. Our students have repeatedly achieved great achievements in academic competition, science and technology competition, innovation and entrepreneurship competition, and cultural and sports competitions inside and outside Zhejiang Province.
